Free Responses:
When our tutors were asked the following questions, this is how they responded:
- Hobbies:
- I am artistic and enjoy scrapbooking.
Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I have a true passion for teaching Spanish. Learning a new language is rewarding on numerous levels and most of all I love seeing a student's level of self-confidence grow. Being a contribution to others is what most fulfills me in life.
Why should a student pick you?
- I started learning Spanish at the age of 13 so I know that learning a language takes a lot of patience. I am patient in my students' learning process and provide great exercises that facilitate language learning. Additionally, I am incredibily passionate about teaching and committed that each student get the attention required to forward their learning. Empowering my students is a key component to their success and a value by which I live and teach.
Personal Statement:
- My name is Kelly and I have lived and studied in Madrid, Spain and San Jose, Costa Rica. My experiences abroad inspired me to pursue a Master's degree in Spanish and Latin American literature at San Francisco State University. Currently I am entering into my 4th semester as a graduate student where I also teach undergraduate Spanish courses.
Any Last Words?
- 'The most visible creators I know are those artists whose medium is life itself. The ones who express the inexpressible - without brush, hammer, clay or guitar. They neither paint nor sculpt - their medium is being. Whatever their presence touches has increased life. The see and don't have to draw. They are the artists of being alive.' -Jay Scott, Satirist
