Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I am passionate about helping a student or a fellow classmate learn something that I know I can help them with. In my high school and college classes, I have had many classmates who felt hopeless about understanding a specific subject and were ready to give up on their classes. I felt a lot of compassion for them because I knew that if someone could explain them by coming to their level, they would not only understand it but would also start enjoying learning about their subject. We only fear or are disinterested in something when we don't understand it. This drive and my passion motivated me to tutor those friends of mine. One of the many reasons for signing up on this website is that the students whom I helped the last semester urged me to reach out to other students out of campus. Also, many of my teachers have probed me take teaching as a profession once I graduate out of college. This might be my first step towards it.
Why should a student pick you?
- A student should pick me because I myself am a student and know the hurdles we come across in our learning process. At times the teacher talks on a higher level that we just can't understand. They fail to understand that they know the material very well and are very familiar with it but the subject or the material being taught is new to us; thus they need to come down to our level. Other times a teacher goes too fast through a lecture for us to grasp it. At certain times a book is written in too complex of a form to be understood. My calling is to come down to the student's level and help them overcome their hurdles in the learning process. Also, I am flexible about driving certain distances and working with the student's schedule.
Personal Statement:
- I am a friendly and an approachable person with a passion for helping a student learn in a constructive way rather than judging them. I love to understand concepts in depth and would want to help my students also understand a concept than simply solving problems.
Any Last Words?
- I did my first Bachelors of Science degree in Nutritional Science from India at Punjab Agricultural University and graduated in 2002.
