Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I love working with students and being able to work with everyone's unique needs. I have a strong educational background and I want to be able to share the knowledge that I have obtained throughout the years.
Why should a student pick you?
- I love learning and I especially love sharing what I learn. As a former teacher, I know what a large impact a teacher can have on a student. I am also aware that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses thus, I modify my lessons to meet the needs of every student that I have.
Personal Statement:
- I am currently a UCSF post-baccalaureate student pursuing a career in the medical field. I graduated from UCLA in 2006 and joined Teach for America after graduation. I taught ESL math, science, history, and English to middle school students in South Central Los Angeles for 2 years. I have experience as a private swim instructor as well as mentoring and tutoring students in elementary school. During my post-baccalareate year, I realized how much I missed teaching and working closely with students to make significant gains. I am hoping to be able to use the skills that I have obtained throughout the years to help my students excel in school and in every other aspect.
